Ricardo Gareca knows the importance of Paolo Guerrero on and off the field. For that reason, the 'Tigre' has called up the 'Depredador' again for the matches against Chile, Bolivia, and Argentina for the Qatar 2022 Qualifiers.
In the match against Uruguay, Paolo started as a starter; however, for the match against Venezuela, the forward waited for his opportunity on the bench. On that occasion, Ricardo Gareca explained that the 'Depredador' expressed to him that he feels better coming in as a substitute than starting from the beginning.
For the match against Chile, Peru needs to win all three points to continue with chances of qualifying for the World Cup in Qatar, and in the press conference, the 'Tigre' highlighted the continuity of the national striker, so he could be one of the starters to face the 'Roja'.
"We have talked with Paolo, he is in the same situation as before. He is not getting continuity but always comes in during the second halves. He is perfectly fit, he has no discomfort or pain," said Ricardo Gareca.
"He is not considered from the start due to technical decisions, but he always has participation. He is an option to start if we consider it. He will have no kind of problem," added the strategist.
Finally, the 'Tigre' referred to Guerrero's presence against Bolivia and Argentina: "If he has to start, we will see how he is for the second match. But we believe he is capable of starting."
