Johan Fano, former forward of the Peruvian national team, remains firm in his stance towards Gianluca Lapadula after his call-up to the Blanquirroja was officially announced.
"I still maintain my point of view and I'm not going to change. For me, the train only passes once and the national team jersey is sacred. The only person responsible for making the decision is Ricardo (Gareca). He will know if he needs him and when he needs him," said Fano to UCI TV.
"As a footballer, I haven't had the opportunity to see him play. I haven't seen him and I can't give an opinion on his performance on the field," added the popular Gavilán.
"I can have my opinion and 35 million people can be against me, as I heard on social media," he said.
Gianluca Lapadula was called up this Friday by Ricardo Gareca for the official matches against Chile and Argentina for the 2022 Qatar World Cup qualifiers.
