Ramón Mifflin, friend and teammate in the Peruvian National Team of Pedro Pablo León, stated that 'Perico' is the best '9' he has seen in the national team and that he was sought after by the best teams in South America.
"'Perico' would be priceless," Mifflin declared in an interview with the Fútbol como Cancha de RPP Noticias program.
The 'Cabezón' Mifflin revealed that Santos, with Pelé, had its sights set on the Aliaza Lima legend. "In our time, Santos wanted him, Pelé spoke highly of him," he added.
The former Santos and Sporting Cristal player pointed out that River Plate, Independiente de Avellaneda, and Botafogo were also interested in 'Perico' León, who passed away last Saturday.
In addition, he revealed that Pedro Pablo León did not leave Alianza Lima because of President Alfonso De Souza Ferreira. "I remember that he received offers, but Don Alfonso (De Souza Ferreira) would not let him go, he was a diehard Alianza fan," he said.
Lastly, Mifflin gave details of a meeting between the former forward and Brazilians Didí and Garrincha. "I took him to the Savoy hotel to visit Didí and Garrincha. And they welcomed him, they loved him a lot in South America. He was wanted by the big teams, River Plate wanted him," he concluded.
