The former defender of the Peruvian National Team, Miguel Rebosio, revealed another anecdote with a former world star. This time he recalled the clash between Peru and Brazil in the 1997 Copa America.
The former Zaragoza and Sporting Cristal player pointed out that he had a duel with Ronaldo in the match that Peru lost 7-0. "It was in the 1997 Copa America, when we lost 7-0. That day the Brazilians were beating us 3-0 in the first half and I went full force against the 'Phenomenon'," he said.
However, 'Phenomenon' did not hesitate to respond. "Yes, and he came at me with force. I shouted and wanted him to be expelled, but they only showed him a yellow card," he added.
'Conejo' told Ronaldo "you are worth millions, I am worth nothing, that's why I'm going to break your leg."
After a few minutes, the legendary Brazilian player asked to be substituted to avoid injury. "He walked off the field. He saw that I was crazy and surely said, 'Why should I risk it? This guy is crazy, he wants to injure me and we're already winning comfortably'," Rebosio said.
Rebosio won the Copa del Rey with Zaragoza in the 2000-2001 season. After four years at the 'maño' club, 'Conejo' signed with Almeria and Paok Salonica (Greece).
