Despite the mandatory social isolation decreed in several countries due to the coronavirus, Wilder Cartagena (25 years old) continues to think about the Peruvian National Team. From Argentina, the national midfielder talked about his desire to be called up again by Ricardo Gareca.
"Although the coach didn't tell me why he didn't take me to the Copa America or why I wasn't called up in other occasions. I know that last year I didn't have much continuity. I believe that was the factor. Now I try to give my best and to be able to return to the national team soon," Cartagena said in the 'Revista Blanquiazul'.
'Wi' also referred to his experience with the 'Bicolor' in the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
"It was an unforgettable experience, to reach a World Cup after 36 years and even more to play. Sometimes it all seemed like a dream, what was happening there, and I am very proud to be part of that group that made history," he said.
Wilder Cartagena joined Godoy Cruz at the beginning of the year after playing in Alianza Lima. So far this season, he has played 2 games for the Argentine team.
