Independiente del Valle became the champion of the Copa Sudamericana after defeating Colón 3-1 in the final held at the General Pablo Rojas stadium in Asunción. Although Luis León and Jhon Sánchez opened the way for the Ecuadorian team to achieve victory, Colombian Cristian Dajomé was responsible for sealing the game in favor of his team in injury time.
In a counterattack by Independiente del Valle after a corner kick by Colón, striker Alejandro Cabeza received the ball behind the Argentine defenders and found himself one on one with Leonardo Burián. However, instead of going for a feint or a shot, the 22-year-old forward opted to pass the ball to his teammate Cristian Dajomé.
Cristian Dajomé, with Colón's goal at his disposal, sent a shot with his right foot to seal the match in favor of Independiente del Valle. Despite the fact that the advantage of the team led by Miguel Ramírez was in danger on more than one occasion, they secured their victory with this goal and, at the same time, the Copa Sudamericana title.
