Pirata FC arrived in Liga 1 as the sensation team, due to the campaign they made to promote and for having Jack Sparrow in their shield. The team from Lambayeque made headlines but couldn't maintain a good campaign in the First Division.
With three matchdays left in the Clausura Tournament, Pirata FC became the first team to be relegated this season. They also joined a list of clubs that only lasted one season in the highest category of Peruvian football.
Just like the 'Piratas del Norte', there were several teams that promoted to the First Division but couldn't maintain the category. Among them are San Simón, Deportivo Municipal, José Gálvez, Los Caimanes, and others.
