Minister of Education: IPD will be restructured to strengthen sports policies

The Minister of Education, Flor Pablo, said today that the government has committed to strengthening sports policies, starting with the restructuring of the Peruvian Institute of Sport (IPD).

"We need a modern organization. In reality, many times we have remained with organizations from past times that respond to challenges surely from that moment, but now we need a new IPD," she emphasized.

Furthermore, she described it as an IPD mistake to initially exclude 147 athletes from the Athlete Support Program (PAD), despite later ordering the immediate reinstatement of this group of athletes, as reported by the Andina agency.

"I think that's something that should have been better evaluated because there are enough technical arguments to not have made a decision of this kind. The athletes have been included. But I believe there was an error that has been corrected," she emphasized.

"We will take actions so that these situations do not occur and so that the IPD is really at the service of athletes, at the service of the sports system, and at the service of putting our country increasingly in the expectation of leading sports at the level of Latin America and worldwide," she asserted.
