Wants to reach the First team. Miguel Araujo made his debut with the reserve team of FC Emmen, in a friendly match against Cambuur Leeuwarden, where his club won 3-2. The Peruvian defender joined the Dutch institution with the aim of maintaining his continuity and international level.
Araujo started as a starter in the match, helping his team maintain a three-goal lead and a clean sheet. However, when he was replaced by Jordy Luchies in the 59th minute, the scoreline changed as Emmen conceded two goals after the Peruvian's departure.
After parting ways with Talleres de Córdoba, the national defender went four months without playing any minutes. His last matches were played in the group stage of the 2019 Copa América and Ricardo Gareca himself had expressed his concern about the Peruvian's lack of playing time.
Araujo arrived at FC Emmen at the beginning of October to play in the Eredivisie in the Netherlands for the next two seasons (until 2021). This signing was celebrated by his teammates in the Peruvian National Team, with whom he traveled to the 'Old Continent' for the 2018 World Cup.
The defender was not included in Ricardo Gareca's last call-up for the friendlies against Uruguay. It is expected that his arrival in Dutch football will give him the opportunity to play minutes and be considered for the upcoming matches of the national team.
