Jeremía Recoba made his debut in Nacional's first team
Jeremía Recoba made his debut in Nacional's first team on Sunday, when he came on as a substitute in the 76th minute of the match that the tricolor team won 4-0 against Potencia at Parque Viera in the third phase of the Copa AUF Uruguay.
The 20-year-old midfielder replaced Diego Zabala and shortly after came close to scoring the fifth goal. He had already trained with the first team and is one of the standout players in the third division, which was coached by his father, Álvaro Recoba, until he took charge of the first team.
Jeremía, who recently had videos circulating in which he claimed to be a Peñarol fan during his childhood, posted a clear message on his Instagram account: "Proud to make my debut for the team I support. Always Nacional."
"There is a lot of ill will from many people, showing a video of my son when he was seven years old. He has always been a fan of Nacional and I have never interfered with that," said Chino Recoba after Sunday's match.
