Alejandro Hohberg returns to the Peruvian national team
It took three years for Alejandro Hohberg to be called up to the Peruvian national team again. The winger from Universitario de Deportes is in his sixth season in Peruvian football, playing in the First Division since 2014 (Melgar), and after some trials with the cream team in 2011.
Hohberg's return to Uruguay
After his first stint in Peruvian football, Alejandro Hohberg returns to Uruguay, where he joins Rentistas, a club led by Julio César Balerio, former goalkeeper, idol of Sporting Cristal, and player for the Peruvian national team in the qualifications for France 1998.
The relationship between Hohberg and Balerio
Edgardo Arias, former coach of 'Ale' at Rentistas, tells the story: "Julio César Balerio brought Alejandro Hohberg to Rentistas, and then I added him to the First Division training. He has a highly respected surname in football," he said in an interview with El BOCÓN.
Hohberg's early playing style
Edgardo Arias, the architect of Hohberg's professional debut, reveals some of the playing characteristics the Peruvian player had in his early days: "Alejandro had excellent ball control. Technically, he was very good. In his beginnings, he resembled Pablo Javier Bengoechea, who he idolized."
Finally, the Uruguayan coach highlights one of Hohberg's main strengths throughout his career: "He comes from a family of athletes who have always supported him. Today he has formed an exemplary family that has been a great support in all the moments he is experiencing. He is a young man who has all the human and sporting potential to succeed."
Hohberg's time at Rentistas
Alejandro Hohberg would remain at Rentistas until his debut in the First Division on April 21, 2012. In his first season, he played eight matches.
