"If I could go back in time, I would change many things," was the statement made by 'Kukín' Flores, every time he spoke to the press. In fact, the former player of Alianza Lima and Universitario de Deportes was aware that he had plenty of talent. But, as he admitted, discipline was more important in order to be a full-time professional and achieve his goals.
For many, 'Kukín' was the last '10' that Peruvian football saw born. However, there are many young players who try to emulate his plays in order to stand out at a professional level, such as Yuriel Celi, who is 17 years old and was called up by Nolberto Solano for the friendlies that the Peruvian U-23 National Team will play, thinking about the Pre-Olympic Tournament in Colombia.
"I love Celi, he is a well-rounded kid. He has a good attitude, he reminds me a lot of my friend 'Kukín'. He has that profile, for the game and presence he shows on the field. He has strength and hits the ball well. It all depends on him," said Nolberto Solano in an exclusive interview with Depor.
"I like Távara, he hits the ball very well. He has a privileged left foot and good game. He is an interesting player. From the senior national team, Trauco hits the ball very well," added Solano when asked about the player who has some similarities to his style of play.
In that sense, the coach of the U-23 national team left a message to his players and to all the players who aspire to reach the National Team: "These tournaments will help you grow, your biggest motivation should be the senior team. When you are in the youth teams, you always aspire to be in the senior team and seize your moment. Ricardo (Gareca) always said that the doors are open to everyone."
