Christian Cueva is having a tough time at Santos FC in Brazil. In addition to the lack of continuity in the team led by Jorge Sampaoli, he has received a preventive sanction from the club, as reported by the sports newspaper Globosporte.
This is because last Friday, the Peruvian national team player was involved in a fight at a nightclub. The incident did not go unnoticed and was recorded by a spectator, who later shared it on social media.
"After broadcasting a video related to the athlete Christian Cueva, the player presented his version of the incident to the board of Santos. The player is suspended preventively and the case is handed over to the legal department," said the press release issued by Santos FC, according to the same media.
It should be noted that Cueva is part of Ricardo Gareca's call-up for the second FIFA date. The national team will play two friendly matches against the Uruguayan National Team.
"Throughout the national team process, we have encountered the problem of little continuity, but as long as the player is training, not injured, and it is only a tactical decision, we do not see it as a problem. We know he is prepared to be in the national team," replied 'Tigre' when asked about the reason for Cueva's call-up.
