Fans of Alianza Lima hold dear the memory of Paraguayan player, Edgar González. He was a foreigner who made a difference in the 'blanquiazul' team. Now, retired, he visualizes what the classic match against Universitario de Deportes at the Monumental will be like.
"At Matute Stadium, the pressure is felt more. At 'U' Stadium, the fans are further away. That's why the pressure is not felt as much. Additionally, I see that Bengoechea has a tough mentality. He is a Uruguayan coach and has skilled players from the midfield upwards," said the former Alianza Lima player, in an interview with Menú Deportivo.
"My character, in a classic match, was to play it tooth and nail," added the Paraguayan midfielder, who played a significant role in Alianza Lima's participation in the 2010 Copa Libertadores.
"My son dreams of playing for Alianza. I went with him to Matute Stadium and he told me he wanted to play in that stadium. It filled me with great expectation. I thank God for giving me the opportunity to have come to a beautiful country," he added.
With Adrián Balboa leading the way, Alianza Lima will come out fighting to defeat Universitario de Deportes this Sunday at the Monumental, starting at 4:00 p.m.
