Hernán Crespo recalls his 'chalaca' goal against Sporting Cristal in the 1996 Copa Libertadores

In an interview with Fox Sports Radio Argentina, former football player and now coach Hernán Crespo remembered the amazing 'chalaca' goal he scored against Sporting Cristal with River Plate in the 1996 Copa Libertadores, as well as how difficult it was to face the Peruvian team.

"I was going to start towards the near post, but when they crossed the ball back, I didn't know what to do, so I tried to figure it out," Crespo commented about his outstanding goal. Regarding the first leg match played in Lima, he stated: "We were losing 2-0, it was a tough game and I was on the bench, but Ramón (Díaz) put me in and I scored the 2-1."

"That Cristal team was like the Peruvian national team and it was difficult because they had Julinho, Flavio Maestri, 'Chorri' Palacios. It was a complicated team, which we later faced with Argentina and Burgos saved everything," he pointed out.

The River Plate team that Hernán Crespo was part of that year ended up winning the Copa Libertadores, securing their second continental title.
