The party that is experienced every time Alianza Lima and Universitario de Deportes meet on the field is incomparable, because it is not only enjoyed by the 22 football players who clash on the pitch, but also by thousands of fans and, of course, those who passed through both clubs and took a piece of the team in their hearts.
Depor contacted Rodrigo Pérez, the remembered left back of the Victoria team who came to write the history of the club and become champion of the national tournament in 2006.
A few days before a new edition of the Peruvian football classic, Rodrigo Pérez, from Rancagua, Chile, nostalgically and joyfully remembers the duel in which he defeated Universitario de Deportes and was chosen as the player of the match.
"I arrived in Peru and in the third round of the Tournament we played against Universitario in Matute. On that occasion, we won 1-0, we were with Gerardo Pelusso as coach and I had the fortune to perform well, in fact I was chosen as the player of the match, I felt very grateful and honored by the people and the press," said Rodrigo Pérez.
"The classics in Peru are to the death, a lot of people, a nice atmosphere. They are important because of the rivalry that exists, they are two big teams and there will always be great expectations. I have unforgettable memories because of the affection of the people and the good team we had in Alianza Lima," he continued.
On the other hand, the remembered left back of the Alianza team stated that he has a strong desire to return to Peruvian football, but this time as a coach, and there is nothing he longs for more than to coach the 'blanquiazul' team.
"The desire to coach Alianza Lima is always there, it would be a dream. We have to go step by step, but I am always open to the possibility of coaching in Peruvian football and if it's Alianza, even better," he concluded.
