Among the arguments he presented was that the team was not following the club's guidelines, even though the effectiveness percentage was very close to that of Mario Salas.
"We proposed the departure of Claudio Vivas and the coaching staff, after conversing and explaining our reasons, whether or not they agreed, they finally accepted. We reached an agreement to achieve his departure, therefore, in the end, there was an agreement on good terms. It is normal for one party to be more hurt than the other," said García Miró to Las Voces del Fútbol.
Vivas commented minutes before on the same program that, since the start of his campaign with the celestials, he had achieved a 58.8% effectiveness, very close to what Mario Salas obtained, who had Herrera and Costa throughout the entire 2018 season, so he did not understand the argument that the objectives were not being met.
Regarding this, the manager of the brewing club stated that "at Sporting Cristal we have a way of playing that the team was losing as the months went by and we believed that, after an analysis, that style was not going to be recovered and sustained over time, so it was necessary to correct it now."
Regarding the appointment of Manuel Barreto as head coach, he stated that "we believe that there is a way that will lead us to achieve the highest possible number of victories over time and we believe that in the last stage of the year, the team was not showing those attributes. That made us make a decision and we thought that (hiring Barreto) was the best for Sporting Cristal," he concluded.
