Ricardo Gareca spoke again about the special permission requested by Paolo Guerrero not to be considered for the international friendlies that the Peruvian National Team was going to play this month. The 'Tigre' made it clear that it wasn't just one call that the 'Depredador' made for this request.
"He called me four times. On the fourth call, I agreed," said Ricardo Gareca about Paolo Guerrero's insistence to play for Internacional de Porto Alegre in the matches (against Cruzeiro) of the Copa Brasil.
The coach of the Peruvian National Team made it clear that in the future, if any athlete wants to exclude themselves, they must do so on their own initiative and directly, without any intermediaries.
"The national team is the most important. If they are going to ask me for permission, the player (Paolo Guerrero) has to ask me, not the institutions," commented Ricardo Gareca during the press conference after Peru's match against Ecuador.
