Sporting Cristal has a history full of trophies and many of its players have taken advantage of that great moment to make the big leap, both to foreign leagues and to the Peruvian National Team. Roberto Mosquera was the one who took that 2012 promotion to the highest position. Where are these players now?
That year, Sporting Cristal had everything to win. Roberto Mosquera had just led Sport Huancayo to qualify for the Copa Libertadores, a historic feat for that club, which motivated the management of Sporting Cristal to bet on the Peruvian coach.
That campaign started with a player strike in all the clubs, but after resolving their demands, Sporting Cristal began to excel and obtained a total of 92 points in the Apertura and Clausura Tournaments.
Out of the 46 matches played, they won 27, drew 11, and lost 8, with a total of 95 goals scored and 44 goals conceded. This led them to play the final against Real Garcilaso in a home-and-away format. In the first match, Yoshimar Yotun created the play that resulted in the goal but ended up injured and could not play the next match.
Jorge Cazulo is one of the historic players in Sporting Cristal. That year, Mosquera made him a fixed player in both matches and his assists led to several dangerous plays for Garcilaso. Erick Delgado served as the team captain and Junior Ross was the one responsible for sealing both victories. Find out where the players from that winning campaign are now.
