María Fernanda Reyes came close to winning another gold medal. Despite fighting throughout her participation, the Peruvian surfer could not defeat Brazilian Chloe Calmon in the longboard final at the Lima 2019 Pan American Games.
In the competition held at Punta Rocas, Calmon showed more confidence on her board and achieved a score of 15.36 to win the gold medal. Meanwhile, María Fernanda Reyes received a score of 12.76.
Earlier, the Peruvian athlete defeated Canadian Mathea Dempfle in the repechage round to secure her spot in the longboard final.
Peru has already won three silver medals with Reyes, Vania Torres, and Tamil Martino, but Peru is aiming for more with 'Piccolo' Clemente, Daniella Rosas, and Lucca Mesinas.
