The discipline of surfing awarded Peru another medal at the Lima 2019 Pan American Games. Despite fighting until the end, Vania Torres could not defeat Colombian Isabella Gómez in the final and settled for the silver medal in paddle surfing.

In the end, Gomez won the gold medal with scores of 5.50 and 5.23 for a total of 10.73, surpassing the local representative, who achieved scores of 5.67 and 4.27.
