Ricardo Gareca confirms his permanence in the Peruvian National Team
In a press conference, Ricardo Gareca, who some point to as the author of Peru's return to the World Cup and the Copa America, confirmed his permanence in the Peruvian National Team.
"I have great respect and affection for my country (Argentina), but I have a contract with a country that offers me everything, I have it all, and I must move forward. I am used to respecting my contracts. I have a contract until 2021 and if we qualify, it will be extended. I am happy," said the 'Tigre', amidst rumors that he was being considered to coach the Argentine team.
Despite the defeat suffered against Brazil, Gareca stated that the national team has evolved and that growth must be constant, without losing humility. "We have evolved over time, but that should not confuse us but strengthen us. It must be something constant and we must continue insisting, always maintaining humility... Beyond the pain of defeat, we are on the right path," he added.
He concluded by stating that the Brazilian team was a fair winner and although the Peruvian National Team advanced on its own merits during this competition, "without a doubt, there are teams that are above us."
