The goalkeeper of the national team became the hero of the day by stopping a penalty from Luis Suarez. The 'Octopus' was brilliant and stopped the shot with his body. Thus, Peru started the decisive penalty shootout on the right foot. Christian Cueva was substituted before the penalties and the memes took advantage to tease him. The player himself joked about what happened on his social media.

The national team did not lose ground with the ball and sought goal opportunities from the first half; however, the 'celeste' defense closed in and the score remained zero throughout the 90 minutes. This panorama of uncertainty inspired the most amusing memes, which went viral on social media.

The Peruvian National Team secured their place in the semifinals, just like in the previous edition of the Copa America. Uruguay entered the field with their top stars, so Zambrano, recovered from his injury, and Abram will be in charge of marking them. Peru will face Chile this Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Arena do Gremio.
