Freddy Ternero passed away on Friday, September 18 at the age of 53 after losing the battle against liver cancer. The former Cienciano coach and former player of Universitario de Deportes ceased to exist and left a great sorrow in Peruvian football. "Today, Friday, Freddy Ternero passed away at the age of 53. He debuted as a player in 1978 at Universitario de Deportes, winning two national titles. Later, as a coach, he was champion with Cienciano in the 2003 Copa Sudamericana and 2004 Recopa", says the text published on the website.
They later add: "As a footballer, he was champion with Universitario de Deportes in 1982 and 1985, and runner-up in 1978 and 1984. He played 188 matches and scored 5 goals with the Universitario shirt between 1978 and 1986".
