The Peruvian National Team "inspires dreams" after the 3-1 victory on Tuesday against Iceland, as part of their preparation for the 2018 World Cup, affirms the Peruvian press.
"A step forward. Peru played well and ended up winning 3-1 against tough Iceland", highlighted the newspaper La República before adding that Tuesday's victory also allowed the team to extend its unbeaten streak to twelve matches.
El Comercio, on the other hand, emphasized that the victory confirmed the great level of players such as Jefferson Farfán, André Carrillo, Renato Tapia, and Edison Flores.
"The Peruvian National Team, after 36 years, is a newspaper of good news", noted the publication in reference to the time Peru was without qualifying for a World Cup.
Perú21 asked, on its part, "may this joy not stop," while Depor maintained that "with the World Cup just around the corner, Peru achieved another victory against a European 'select' and equaled its historical streak: 12 matches undefeated."
"The team remained faithful to its style and, just like against Croatia, it was superior to Iceland. The best part: it improved in performance," emphasized the newspaper.
Peru, with goals from Renato Tapia, Raúl Ruidiaz, and Jefferson Farfán, prevailed 3-1 against Iceland in a match that added to the 2-0 victory against Croatia last Friday, as part of their World Cup preparation.
