DECLARATION OF RODULFO MANZO REGARDING ACCUSATIONS

The former Peruvian national team defender, Rodulfo Manzo, issued a sworn statement regarding the accusations made a few days ago by José Velásquez, who accused him of having "sold himself" in the match in which Peru lost to Argentina 6-0 in the 1978 World Cup.

ANOTHER LAWSUIT FOR 'EL PATRÓN'

In the document, Rodulfo Manzo refutes José Velásquez and clarifies that he never "sold himself" in that match, in which, according to 'El Patrón', six of his teammates would have received benefits to let Argentina win.

"I have not received any tangible or intangible benefits in order to have a poor performance in any match as a national team player, specifically in the aforementioned match: Peru vs Argentina," confessed Rodulfo Manzo

Rodulfo Manzo affirms in the document that José Velásquez has tarnished his honor and his last name, something he will not allow. He also expresses that he will sue his former teammate for everything he has said. "I categorically deny the statement made by José Velásquez Castillo and indicate that I am granting Power of Legal Representation to those who will defend me. My daughter, Itala Manzo Santos BS and Gerardo Janampa Pérez BS", can be read in the sworn statement.

Rodulfo Manzo participated in the 1978 World Cup in Argentina and played for Vélez Sársfield in Argentina, Deportivo Táchira, Emelec, Deportivo Municipal, Juventud La Palma de Huacho and Defensor Lima.
