Flamengo, like all of Peru, is waiting for the decision of FIFA's Appeals Committee on the case of Paolo Guerrero.
The Brazilian club is confident that Paolo Guerrero's suspension of one year will be reduced. However, they are working on a plan B in case the punishment to the Peruvian forward is upheld.
According to "Globoesporte", Flamengo would have advanced discussions with Fred, an experienced Brazilian forward who played in the 2014 World Cup. The Atletico Mineiro player is the main target of 'Mengao' if Paolo Guerrero's penalty is not reduced.

The Brazilian outlet adds that Flamengo considered Argentine forwards Ramón Ábila and Jonathan Calleri, but they have been discarded for now.
This year, Fred was the standout player for Mineiro. The 34-year-old striker scored 30 goals and provided 10 assists, contributing to almost a third of the team's goals.
Fred's arrival will depend on the situation of Paolo Guerrero. Another obstacle in the Brazilian's signing is his past at Fluminense, Flamengo's main rival, which does not convince the 'Mengao' fans.
