Federación Peruana de Fútbol issues statement regarding Paolo Guerrero's suspension
The Peruvian Football Federation (FPF) spoke out for the first time after learning of FIFA's one-year suspension of Paolo Guerrero. In an official statement, they expressed their regret over the situation of the captain of the Peruvian National Team and provided details about the meeting they had with his family.

"As FPF, we regret and show solidarity with the difficult situation that Paolo Guerrero has been going through. We reiterate our feelings about Paolo's personal and professional qualities. We value his immense contribution to our National Team as captain and leader of the group," they explain.
Furthermore, the FPF reminds that the decision can be appealed to the FIFA Appeals Committee. "We trust in the jurisdictional instances of the world football system," they add.
Finally, they highlight that they held a meeting with Paolo Guerrero's family after learning of the sanction imposed by FIFA. "We have received Paolo's family and spoken with him with the certainty that football and all Peruvians united can overcome adversity, as we have been demonstrating."
FIFA's disciplinary committee announced that Paolo Guerrero has been suspended "for a period of one year" after testing positive for the cocaine metabolite benzoylecgonine. As a result, the Flamengo player will miss the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
