The Peruvian National Team will play two finals against Argentina and Colombia in the Russia 2017 Qualifiers. If the 'blanquirroja' wins these matches, it will qualify among the top four for the next World Cup, but if other results occur, it could have to face New Zealand in November in a two-match playoff.
In the scenario where the second option occurs, some dates of the 2017 Descentralizado would be suspended and rescheduled in December. Martín Kohatsu, member of the ADFP board, explained this Saturday on the program A Todo Gol from RPP News which dates would be affected.
"If you look at the fixture, from matchday 10 to 15 all the matches are played on Sunday, so Wednesdays are free. But if Peru goes to the playoff, matchdays 10, 11, 12 and 13 would be suspended. Four matchdays because they would travel to New Zealand 10 days before. The first leg would be played on the 7th (of November) there and the second leg would be on the 14th (of the same month) in Lima. In this case, matchday 14 would not have any issues, but between this matchday and matchday 15 there would only be one Wednesday available, which would be impossible to schedule everything for that day," said Hohatsu.
"If the opportunity arises, I don't believe any club will have any disagreement with the tournament ending in December because on the 14th (of November) we will all be happy. The champion will come out with the Christmas turkey and for that, they would have to start playing the first two weeks of December on Sunday and Wednesday and that's when it will end," he added.
Let's remember that the Peruvian National Team will face Argentina on October 5th at La Bombonera and Colombia on October 10th at the Nacional stadium.
