The Peruvian Institute of Sport (IPD) presents "Top Peru Lima 2019"

The Peruvian Institute of Sport (IPD) presented the "Top Peru Lima 2019" that includes the 153 best athletes in the country, who will receive extraordinary support from the Government for their preparation and have great chances of winning medals at the XVIII Lima 2019 Pan American Games and the Lima 2019 Parapan American Games.

The "Top Peru Lima 2019" has been created so that the athletes, proposed by their federations, can benefit from more international competitions and training bases, an increase in their Athlete Support Program (PAD) budget, and better preparation conditions to have a chance of winning medals in Lima 2019. The presentation of this elite group of national sport started with a special ceremony at the facilities of the Polideportivo 1 of the Centro de Alto Rendimiento (CAR) de la Videna, where the President of the Republic, Pedro Pablo Kuczynski, was present, accompanied by the Head of IPD, Oscar Fernández, and the Head of COPAL, Carlos Neuhaus.

The Peruvian Government, through IPD, allocated 36 million Peruvian soles as an extraordinary budget to support the preparation of our athletes in 2017. This amount will benefit approximately 700 Peruvians who will compete in the Pan American and Parapan American Games, with an emphasis on the members of the Top Peru Lima 2019.

This exclusive group of athletes includes those who have achieved success in the Olympic Games, Pan American Games, Bolivarian Games, South American Games, and World Championships. 18 out of the 39 sports and 4 out of the 18 Parapan American sports were prioritized. The 153 athletes come from athletics, badminton, bowling, equestrian, fencing, water skiing, gymnastics, judo, karate, weightlifting, amateur wrestling, parapowerlifting, para athletics, parabadminton, para cycling, rowing, squash, table tennis, taekwondo, shooting, sailing, and volleyball disciplines.
