The Academy wins a 1-0 victory over the albiverdes and closes a successful semester
With some controversy at the end, Bolivar was able to celebrate its 21st title in the League and 27th national title with a narrow 1-0 victory over Oriente Petrolero, who almost ruined the party for the current champion of the Bolivian tournament.
What seemed like an easy victory for the celestes - since Oriente arrived with a mixed team in La Paz - turned into a nightmare for the Academy, as the goal of the cruceño team remained closed for over 90 minutes thanks to Pedro Galindo, who was the star of the match.
It was a celeste celebration that was almost overshadowed by Oriente Petrolero, who deserved more tonight, but in the end, it was Bolivar who found the winning goal for the victory.
Shots from all angles failed to break the albiverde's goal; Bolivar had several opportunities, and Oriente also made counterattacks that almost surprised Dituro.
In the first fifteen minutes, Fierro and Raldes got tangled up before shooting, then it was Cabrera's turn, who did not take advantage of a cross from Morales, while Justiniano sent a cross that Galindo was able to clear.
Oriente tried to surprise with attacks from Denni Bejarano, who drew fouls in the penalty area twice, but referee Maldonado did not want to call them due to pressure from the fans.
The match was a chance for Bolivar to bid farewell to Wálter Flores, Ronnie Fernández, and Nelson Cabrera, as each one was applauded with every touch of the ball.
But it was at the 92nd minute that the match took a dark turn. Maldonado awarded a penalty, a somewhat dubious infraction, but he called it. Cabrera took the ball and shot, Galindo guessed right and saved the shot.
The play was annulled because the linesman reported that the goalkeeper had jumped forward, which sparked a discussion that ended with the expulsion of the Oriente Petrolero goalkeeper.
Luis Haquin put on the gloves and Cabrera scored the only goal in the 97th minute with a low shot.
It was a minimal victory but crowned the best team in the tournament, who celebrated until dawn.
