Juan Reynoso, Peruvian National Team coach, will remain in his position despite the recent adverse results in the South American Qualifiers. In the current scenario, the Peruvian team is not going through its best moment, ranking second-to-last in the qualifiers with only one point obtained in their draw against Paraguay.
In the last double matchday, Peru suffered two defeats against Chile and Argentina. As a result, Reynoso, who took over as coach in August 2022, has been in the center of criticism for the poor performance of the Peruvian team, which so far is the only team that has not been able to score a goal in the qualifiers after four matches played.
In a press conference, the national coach responded about his continuity in the team. "If we talk about precedents, one could think that others have the decision, but in the last qualifiers something similar happened and the guys reinvented themselves. Everything is in the strength and mindset of each one, I really have energy," he said.
ABOUT PERUVIAN FOOTBALL
"We have to work to reverse this, but it's not just about me speaking, I believe Peruvian football will have to help us, the clubs, because we won't achieve generational change if we have talent and they can only play 45 or 60 minutes. I think it's a tough task, the short term is important, but we are interested in making it something anecdotal in the medium term," he emphasized.
