The former Peruvian national team coach confessed that he feels nostalgia when watching the participation of the 'Bicolor' in this new qualifying process. What did the 'Tigre' say?

The coach of the Peruvian national team, Juan Reynoso, made his debut in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Paraguay, with a valuable draw considering they were playing as visitors and even without Boca Juniors' full-back, Luis Advíncula, who was expelled during the first 45 minutes of the match.

One of the characters greatly remembered by national fans, Ricardo Gareca, former coach of the 'Bicolor', broke his silence to comment on what the debut of 'the team of all' meant in this new qualifying process against the Paraguayans.

"I didn't watch the full match, I saw the final summary. Paraguay is always very difficult, it is a complicated team, but I think we handled it, we defended more than we attacked, but it has to do with being left with one less man," said the 'Tigre' in an exclusive interview with journalist Óscar Torres.

"Everything that is Peru produces nostalgia in me right now, they are guys that I had and a national team that we had for many years, everything produces a beautiful nostalgia," he added.

Finally, when asked if he would consider returning to coach the Peruvian national team in the future, he stated: "It is very unlikely because there is a coach of Juan Reynoso's caliber who is just starting. I see it as highly improbable because the federation is committed to sustaining processes and this is just the beginning."
