The historic club will not be able to count on the presence of its fans after the conflicts that arose before the game against Libertad.

Bad news for the Aunceno club. The organized bars of Olimpia will not be able to enter events organized or sponsored by the Paraguayan Football Association (APF) for 10 months due to a sanction for the disturbances that occurred during a match with local Libertad, to which the points in play were also awarded.

The news was announced by the APF itself through an official statement. In addition, the team must pay 40 minimum wages, which amount to 102,012,280 Guarani (about 14,639 dollars), while the director must pay 30 minimum daily wages, around 2,942,670 Guarani (about 422.31 dollars); and, the amounts must be deposited within the five business days following the notification.

What happened?

On September 5, the Defensores del Chaco stadium was the scene of disorder during and after the round of 16 match of the Copa Paraguay, in which Libertad was leading Olimpia 4-0.

The match was suspended by the referee due to the "lack of guarantees for its continuation".

The fans, who initially forced the match to be interrupted by throwing objects at the goal of Libertad's goalkeeper, Uruguayan Martín Silva, later threw chairs and various objects onto the field.

In its resolution, the APF determined that the match was concluded and, consequently, awarded the points to Libertad. Due to this decision, Gumarelo advances to the quarterfinals, where they will face Guaraní.
