Paredes appointed as the new coach of Sportivo Luqueño
Paredes, 44 years old, was an assistant at Olimpia, as well as the coach of the U23 and U20 national teams. He has also coached Rubio Ñu and Guaireña. The information was confirmed last night by his agent, Darío Torales. He will be officially presented next Saturday.
"I am very excited to know that I will be coaching Sportivo Luqueño. It is the biggest challenge for me," said CHP in a conversation with Urbana al Máximo.
Regarding his previous job, Paredes mentioned that he was coaching Fulgencio Yegros and due to the fact that the Intermedia league will not be played, this opportunity came at the right time for him. "The situation in the Intermedia league was not good," he stated.
The new coach also revealed that he had a conversation with Rorro. "I talked to him and he provided me with all the information about the team. Luqueño has an excellent squad. This afternoon I will undergo the COVID test and on Saturday I will be leading my first practice session," he explained.
Finally, he expressed his regret about the pandemic situation, as the youth teams are not playing and Paredes would have liked to give the young players some opportunities," he concluded.
As for Rorro, he stepped down from his position on Monday, however, he reached an agreement with the board to coach Luqueño one last time against 12 de Octubre on Friday.
"We made the decision a couple of weeks ago. And we communicated it to the board in two meetings, one before training and another one after," said Rorro to FALG. He mentioned that "it was difficult to make the decision because we imagined staying until December, but the situation kept changing and it became increasingly unclear." He assured that "we were aware of the political and financial issues before joining the club, without blaming anyone, it was very difficult to end this way in the Apertura (due to players leaving)." He thanked the club for the opportunity. He could be coaching in Mexico.
Meanwhile, Celso Cáceres, president of Luqueño, spoke about the issue and mentioned: "We respect his decision, even though we expressed our desire to continue counting on him. Rodrigo has already made the decision to leave." And he concluded: "Today, Rorro is highly regarded in our football."
