Cerro Porteño must resolve a problem in the midst of the suspension of the Apertura 2020 tournament due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Several players may not have received payment for their salaries due to the financial complications caused by the health crisis.
According to Víctor Villalba's report on Fútbol a lo Grande, the cerro striker paid the salaries for January with deferred checks to be cashed in March. However, the government-imposed quarantine prevented many from being able to cash their salaries.
The players who were already in the squad received their last payment in December, while those who arrived for this season have not been able to access their money yet.
Cerro Porteño has a monthly budget close to one million dollars and on March 26, the club's president affirmed that they would not touch any staff members and would be responsible with the payments, but would ask for a "contribution" from the squad to get through the months of March and April.
