Mohamed didn't hide his love for Rayados, as he recalled how well he enjoyed his time with the northern institution, so Sunday's game will be special.
Antonio Mohamed was clear and put aside Pumas and América in terms of greatness, as the current coach of Pumas confessed that Monterrey is the biggest team he has been with since he arrived in Mexico.
"These are questions that lead to confrontational titles. It seems to me that teams are great because of their history and others write it along the way. Then the fans and institutionally will decide. In Mexico, of the teams I have worked with, it is the biggest in terms of infrastructure and seriousness, overall. Then the rest goes more by history," the 'Turco' said in a press conference.
And Mohamed didn't hide his love for Rayados, as he himself recalled how well he enjoyed his time with the northern institution, so Sunday's game will be special and, at the same time, like a revenge after what happened between them in the last tournament.
"It's always a special match because that's where I was happiest. Today we are rivals for 90 minutes and I want to win. The players are the ones who play. It's different. We have been working for three months, almost four, and it will be a different scenario," Mohamed said initially.
"After losing that match, we said that we had to better prepare ourselves. The team is under construction and we have to compete and win matches," added the Argentine strategist.
In the same way, he labeled Rayados as the favorite due to their economic power and being one of the most expensive squads in the Liga MX, thus seeking to relieve pressure from his players, in addition to stating that his team is not yet where he wants them to be.
"How can you be the favorite against the most expensive squad in the league along with América and Tigres. The favorites are them and we will try to win the match with our strengths. If there is a favorite, it's Monterrey and when you see the situation at the start of the tournament, it's Monterrey. Then we will see if we can match or surpass them," he said.
"It was difficult for us to reach this position and we won't let anyone relax so we don't become what we were. We have to run like a small team and attack like a big team. The day we stop running, we may not be in that position on the table anymore and the squad understands our mistakes and virtues. We compete very well. The team still needs to become a real team," he concluded.
