The semifinals of the Apertura 2022 have been defined, in which America will face Toluca and Monterrey will face Pachuca, matches that already have a history in the history of the Liguilla in short tournaments, with dominance by Diablos and Tuzos respectively.

Both teams faced each other in the last matchday of the Apertura 2022, in which they shared the points after a goalless draw at the BBVA Stadium.
At the end of the regular phase, only three points separated Monterrey and Pachuca, but both teams secured direct spots in the quarterfinals. The Rayados, in second place, reached the semifinals after eliminating Cruz Azul, while the Tuzos advanced by defeating Tigres to reach the pre-final.
