America ended Puebla's hopes of turning the overall result around. In less than 28 minutes, the 'Águilas' defeat them 2-0 in the second leg of the quarterfinals and secure their place in the semifinals of the Apertura of Liga MX.

At minute 21, Roger Martínez played a filtered pass for Brian Rodríguez. The Uruguayan player, who was coming from the left wing, entered the box and took a powerful shot that Antony Silva tried to contain, however, the ball inflated the net.

After six minutes, the 'Camoteros' lost the ball in the build-up and Roger Martínez appeared again, but this time he assisted Henry Martín who finished against the Paraguayan goalkeeper.

America vs. Puebla: match preview

Club America has shown all its power during the regular stage and finished as the top of the table, with 12 wins, two draws, and three losses. Despite a start full of doubts, the arrival of coach Fernando Ortiz served to bring out the best football version of the players.

The 'Águilas' haven't lost in 13 games and surprisingly, they only dropped points once during that period: they drew 3-3 against Santos Laguna, last September 14. And the last time the club stumbled was on July 31, losing 3-2 in the visit to León. The streak is impressive.

Part of America's great moment is the outstanding performance of Henry Martín, who already has 12 goals this season, in addition to six assists. Uruguayan Jonathan Rodríguez has also become a key piece in the team's scheme, with six celebrations.

On the other hand, Puebla finished in the eighth position of the Apertura Tournament and advanced through the repechage by beating Chivas de Guadalajara in the penalty shootout (5-4). However, their good record did not reflect against 'Águilas'.
