After Peru's defeat to the Mexican team by 1-0, sports commentator Óscar del Portal did not hesitate to express his discontent with certain actions of the players throughout the 90 minutes. One of them was related to Carlos Zambrano, who was cautioned for an elbow to the Mexican midfielder.

During the live program "Fútbol en América", Del Portal and his colleagues were analyzing the performance of the Bicolor against Mexico in the beginning of Juan Reynoso's era. Once the elbow action of Carlos Zambrano was seen, the sports commentator wasted no time in expressing his opinion about the behavior of the national center-back.

"Zambrano has several of these. Are we going to wait for this to happen again in the qualifiers? With all the love and respect we have for Zambrano, he can't enter that way. Some referees will show him a yellow card, but others will show him a red card. How long will this continue?", expressed Óscar del Portal.

Similarly, he made it clear that for him, Carlos Zambrano should have been sent off for this play in the Peru vs Mexico match, and he hopes that he becomes aware of it so as not to harm the Bicolor in key matches like the qualifiers.

"It's better to tell him in a friendly match than in a qualifying match. It can cost you a game. I disapprove of playing at the limit, because that play is worthy of a red card. He needs to know his limits and play with them. Not expose himself like that. If Pitana referees, nothing will happen, but if it's a Bolivian or Chilean, they won't send you off? One thing is playing hard for the ball, but the raised arm must be avoided," he added.

When does Peru play?

The next match of the Peruvian National Team will be against El Salvador on Tuesday, September 27th, starting at 19:00 Peruvian time.
