América vs. Chivas: Preview
América came out strong at the start of the second half, just as they had in the beginning of the first half. Thanks to that intensity, the blue and cream team scored the 2-0 against Chivas in the Mexican classic.
At the 50th minute, Emilio Lara crossed the ball into the area and Henry Martín, who was marked by an opponent, brought the ball down for Alejandro Zendejas. The '17' of the 'Eagles' took a powerful shot that grazed Jiménez's hands, but the ball still found the back of the net.
If the result holds, América will climb to the top position in the Clausura with 35 points. On the other hand, the 'Rebaño' needs to react or they will remain in seventh place with 22 points.
América vs. Chivas: Preview
The 'Eagles' have secured a spot in the next round of the local championship. However, Fernando Ortiz's team wants to maintain the first place position, which they currently hold with 32 points following the 3-3 draw against Santos Laguna midweek. Meanwhile, Guadalajara wants to seal their spot in the playoffs, which gives them a chance to fight for a place in the Liguilla.
Looking ahead to the Clásico Nacional, it is expected that América's coach will make only one change from the lineup that faced the 'Guerreros'. Emilio Lara, who will participate with the Mexican national team in the FIFA matches, will take the place of Miguel Layún, who played in the World Cup with the 'Tri', on the wing.
On the other hand, coach Ricardo Cadena needs to recover from the heavy defeat suffered at home against Tigres (1-4). Despite the lopsided scoreline, Chivas' coach may field the same starting eleven as last week at Akron. Thus, Alexis Vega and Santiago Ormeño should be the offensive references for the 'Rebaño'.
