Mexico, the surprise of Group C in the Basketball America Cup
Mexico, until now the surprise of Group C in the Basketball America Cup, was superior from the first quarter (16-21). They resisted Panama's reaction in the second quarter (15-14), maintained their dominance in the third quarter (14-19), and once again contained the Central American team in the fourth quarter (15-11).
They relied mostly on the accuracy of Gabriel Girón, point guard for Dorados de Chihuahua and top scorer of the match with 18 points.

With the result on Sunday, Mexico already has a nearly secured place in the quarterfinals, while Panama could only aspire to reach that stage if they defeat the United States on Monday.
The tournament takes place at the Geraldo Magalhaes Coliseum in the city of Recife, Northeast Brazil, and brings together twelve teams.
