The Mexican forward of Sporting Kansas City said that playing at Chivas is not for everyone
Alan Pulido played for Chivas for three years before moving to Sporting Kansas City in the MLS. With Chivas, the forward won the League, Cup, and CONCACAF championships, so he claims to have a lot of affection for the institution.
The Mexican attacker looks with sadness at the poor campaign that the team from Guadalajara has had in Guard1anes 2021 and exclusively for ESPN, he pointed out that many players on the team struggle with the weight of the Chivas shirt.
"Honestly, it's not the same playing for other teams and arriving at Chivas, it's not the same. The truth is that the Chivas shirt weighs a lot, there are many players who excel in other teams, but when they arrive at Chivas they simply go unnoticed. I have always said that Chivas is not for everyone. I believe that Chivas needs the best Mexican players because in the end, they are the only players who can be there. I hope that each of the players analyzes and self-criticizes themselves to realize what they are doing right and what they are doing wrong, and try to improve in order to be better footballers and help the team more,"
However, Pulido trusts that the current Chivas players will turn the situation around and regain the team's form.
"It's a fact that they are not going through a good moment. Ricardo Pelaez arrived at a complicated time when he promised a lot, but in the end, things are not going well. That's why people are questioning him. I believe that there are many players who are not showing their best version, and that sometimes shows on the field in a team with only Mexicans playing in a league where there are many foreigners. We hope they bounce back. I have always wished the best for the team. I always try to watch their games, and it makes me very happy when they get good results. When they don't, it obviously hurts, but it's part of this business,"
On the other hand, the Sporting Kansas City forward hopes that the Chivas players value the institution they belong to and stay away from off-field scandals.
"Guadalajara is a very difficult city to live in. There are many distractions, there are many things that can work against you. So you have to be smart, and that depends on each player because there are also very good things that, if you know how to take advantage of them, can help you a lot. We hope that the team can bounce back because that's what all the fans who support this great team want. Hopefully, they can be back on top soon," Pulido said to ESPN.
Finally, the forward from Tamaulipas made it clear that one of his biggest dreams in life is to return to Chivas.
"Of course, I would love to return because honestly, it's a team that has my full respect. I defended the colors like no one else, and I always tried to give my best. Thank God, I did very well personally and as a team. I won three championships and a top scorer title, and it's something that has marked me for life. That's why the love and affection are always remembered. Hopefully, at some point, I can be back in that team. For me, the fact that they are only Mexicans makes it even more special. We hope that I can be back soon, but in football, you never know. We'll have to wait and see what the future holds,"
