After Agustín Marchesín's departure from Club América, the starting goalkeeper position is vacant. Jeremías Ledesma, a young player from Rosario Central, is the ideal candidate for Héctor Miguel Zelada, a historic player of the bluecreams organization.
In a phone interview on Futbol Picante, the former Argentine goalkeeper mentioned Ledesma as the replacement for Marchesín, who is leaving for Porto. "One of the two or three best goalkeepers in Argentina, sought after by River Plate," that's how the legendary Zelada described Jeremías.
The 26-year-old goalkeeper was developed at Rosario Central, the team where he made his debut in the 2017/2018 season in an official match of the Argentine Superliga. He played 1,800 minutes in that first season -20 matches- and conceded 26 goals, keeping a clean sheet in five games.
In the 2018/2019 season, the 1.86-meter tall player from Rosario played 2,160 minutes, 24 matches, conceded 24 goals, and kept 10 clean sheets.
In total -including league, cup, and international tournaments- Ledesma has played 73 matches, conceded 76 goals, and kept 26 clean sheets.
For Club América, it could represent a good long-term investment, as the cost of bringing Jeremías is 800,000 euros, according to Transfermarkt. A lower cost compared to the value of Ochoa's transfer.
Ledesma was the champion of the Primera B Nacional in 2012/2013 and won the Copa Argentina in 2018.
