Santos Laguna tied Pachuca 2-2 in the second leg of the Clausura 2018 Grand Final in LIGA Bancomer MX Sub-17, which took place at Estadio Corona TSM.
With this result, the Warriors became champions by winning 4-3 in aggregate.
The first moments were calm, both teams tried to decipher the opponent's strategy.
The goals were scored by Alan Maeda in the 21st minute and Jared Simental in the 37th minute for the home team, while Roberto Carlos de la Rosa scored in the 24th and 87th minutes for the visitors.
However, in the 16th minute, the host team came close to opening the scoring. Jordan Carrillo rose inside the box, gained position, headed towards the angle, but Julio Galindo made a great save to send it to a corner kick.
In the 21st minute, the score opened in favor of Santos Laguna. Alan Maeda took a direct free kick from the edge of the area with a lot of power, leaving the visiting goalkeeper with no chance. It was 1-0.
The joy didn't last long, as minutes later, Roberto Carlos de la Rosa equalized from the penalty spot. The aggregate score was 3-2.
The Warriors responded and went forward, mostly through the left flank with Diego Medina. The number "338" looked for it so much that he ended up being fouled in the penalty area in the 34th minute. Jared Simental calmly shot and deceived the goalkeeper to make it 2-1.
The lead could have been greater for Santos Laguna, but the referee disallowed a goal for offside. The first half ended with a partial victory for the home team. A result that brought Albiverdes closer to the Clausura 2018 title.
In the second half, Sebastián Medellín had the chance to equalize when he found the ball in the area, but Héctor Holguín closed the angle properly and blocked the shot with his right arm. It was the 68th minute. Time continued to tick in favor of the home team.
The Tuzos didn't give up, they were looking for a goal that would give them life and they got it in the 87th minute with a header from Roberto Carlos de la Rosa, but it wasn't enough for them.
The referee blew the final whistle and Santos became champions of the Clausura 2018 in the Sub-17 category.
