González argued that his decision to play for Mexico was as a gesture of gratitude for having debuted in the First Division with Rayados.

Jonathan González, player for Rayados and called up for the Mexican National Team for the first time, expressed his desire to debut with the Tri and showed no doubts in his choice to represent the national team.

"I am Mexican, my family, my roots are Mexican, and as they say here, I have the cactus on my forehead," he said in his last response to leave no doubt about his decision.

González argued that his decision to play for Mexico was a way of thanking for having debuted in the Mexican First Division with Rayados.

"Mexico for me was the country that opened the doors for me to fulfill my dream, because I am Mexican and I have always been," he said.

The Rayados' young player accepted that he will have to earn a spot and expressed that he was not guaranteed a place in the 2018 World Cup in Russia, as he will have to earn it.

"What I talked about with them, the planning, the short, medium and long-term plans, I really liked them and in this they can't promise you anything, it depends on each one to earn a spot," he said.

"It is working hard day by day, giving my all in every training session and match, and that comes from the effort of everyone," he added.

González mentioned that he found refuge in his family to make the decision to play in Mexico. "Honestly, it was not easy at all, I talked a lot about it with my family, they were key in this, I am where I am because of them."

Jonathan González could debut with the Tri on January 31 in San Antonio in the friendly match against Bosnia and Herzegovina.
