Tigres managed to conquer their sixth title in the First Division after defeating Monterrey, here we provide a recount of their championships.

Tournament Apertura 2017 of the Liga MX made history by having the two most representative clubs from the state of Nuevo Leon, Tigres and Monterrey, face each other in the Grand Final.

Under the command of Brazilian strategist Ricardo 'Tuca' Ferretti, the auriazul team achieved their sixth crown in the unprecedented Final Regia - their third consecutive participation in the definitive match for the professional soccer title in Mexico.

The Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León won their first and second crown with Uruguayan coach Carlos 'El Tanque' Miloc (1978 and 1982), while the rest were thanks to Ricardo Ferretti (2011, 2015, 2016, and 2017).

Season 1977-1978

Carlos Miloc gave Tigres their first title, along with the great performances of Tomás Boy and Gerónimo Barbadillo, in May 1978, after defeating Pumas in the Final with a global score of 3-1.

Season 1981-1982

Once again, 'El Tanque' made the university team the best club in the country in June 1982. This time, the victim was Atlante, who lost in penalties after a 2-2 tie in the aggregate.

Apertura 2011

It took 28 years for the feline club to become the best team in Mexican soccer. This time, 'Tuca' was in charge of driving his players to the championship match, in which they defeated Santos Laguna with a 4-1 global score.

Apertura 2015

In this tournament, the felines made a breakthrough in the market with the signings of Frenchman André-Pierre Gignac and Mexicans Jürgen Damm and Javier Aquino. The investment paid off as they reached the final of the playoffs, and after an agonizing second leg match, Ferretti's team prevailed in penalties against Pumas.

Apertura 2016

Still under the command of the Brazilian coach, and once again through penalties, the university team expanded their legacy in the Liga MX in an emotionally charged game against América - who were celebrating their centenary.

The Tigres club is in the tireless fight to be considered the 'Fifth Great'; from 2014 to the present, they have played 11 finals - including Liga MX, Copa MX, Libertadores, Liga de Campeones de la Concacaf, and Campeón de Campeones - of which they have won six.
