Earning three classics can give more than just joy.
Miguel Herrera knows it, and for this Apertura 2017 he could fulfill the rule again.
The progress of the Eagles when "Piojo" is in charge no longer surprises. The points fall, the victories are constant, the spirits are high, and the championship is always possible.
As if that weren't enough, winning the classics has become a healthy habit, which has already allowed them to win three out of three. And to make matters worse, the last time that happened, America was crowned the champion of the tournament.
In the Clausura 2013, Herrera's Eagles defeated Cruz Azul, Chivas, and Pumas. At the end of the semester, they lifted their eleventh title.
The destiny, the work, and the presence of Miguel pave the way for America, who have already fulfilled the first requirement; to defeat their eternal enemies once again.
"The truth is that we are happy to win, get the points, and qualify early. It seems to me that if it happens (to be champion), it will be a coincidence. Today the team is doing well, focused, because despite not playing a good match against Chivas, we won. And well, hopefully that coincidence happens.
"I always try to improve, if things happen the same way they did in 2013, it will be great because it will mean that you reached the final. The reality is that we are not mathematically classified yet, it seems like we are, but we have to add more points and start to tighten towards the playoffs," said "Piojo" to CANCHA.
For Miguel, there is no better streak than daily work, just to not leave everything to luck.
"I always try to surpass myself every passing tournament, I always try to overcome it, but well, we have to keep working to achieve it, hopefully we fulfill it this time.
"I'm not superstitious, the only thing I do is work to get results," he emphasized.
The next goal for the Eagles is to reach 30 points, or more, just like in 2013, the year when the love affair between America and Herrera came true.
