Soccer Player Breaks Record for Most Games in Mexican Soccer History

At 44 years old and with a professional career in soccer spanning 24 years, Oscar 'Conejo' Pérez broke the record for the player with the most games in Mexican soccer history (726), surpassing former goalkeeper Oswaldo Sánchez (725).

The goalkeeper's first match in Mexico's top league was on August 21, 1993, in the game between Cruz Azul and Atlas, which ended in a goalless draw.

Since then, Oscar has played for six Mexican clubs: Cruz Azul (1993-2008) - 418 games, Tigres UANL (2008-2009) - 30 games, Jaguares (2009-2010) - 30 games, Necaxa (2010-2011) - 34 games, San Luis (2011-2013) - 62 games, and Pachuca (2013-Present) - 152 games.

'Conejo' has won two league titles, one with 'La Máquina' in the Winter 1997 season and another with 'Los Tuzos' in the Clausura 2016 season.

The former Tricolor goalkeeper announced his retirement from soccer after the 2017 Club World Cup, so his number of games in the Mexican League will continue to increase.

Oswaldo Sánchez was surpassed after accumulating 725 games in a 21-year career, during which he defended the colors of Chivas (353 matches), América (76 matches), and Santos Laguna (296 matches).
