The Liga MX will allow women to compete in national football at a professional level

While the measure has been greatly applauded, some sectors lament that the age limit becomes an obstacle.

"I find it absurd that there is an age limit in the Liga MX femenil. This does not allow players like us, who have the necessary experience to play in a professional league, to do so", commented Miranda Salman, a transgender footballer defending the rights of the LGBT community, although she applauded the initiative to allow women to compete at a professional level.

While the regulations establish that teams can include a maximum of four adult players - born before 1993 - it is clear that it is difficult for players over 30 years old to participate in this tournament, as is the case in the men's Liga MX.

"If in men's football there are youth teams and the senior team where the best prepared players are, I don't understand why something similar was not done in women's football", Salman added.
